Chaplain's Message

Chaplain's Report for Immaculata Regional High School

Each of the classes have Religious Studies as a course equal to the other courses and which is compulsory for all students to take. We are in the process of setting up a schedule whereby each of the priests in the Deanery will visit one of the grades twice a semester which could include a general discussion of various topics, a prepared talk on a particular topic, or a teaching Mass celebrated in the chapel.

We also have monthly Masses or para-liturgies in the school gym. Our Bishop always presides over the December Mass on the school feast day, Immaculate Conception. November is a para-liturgy for Remembrance Day. Also, Holy Thursday is a para-litugy. All other months have Mass, and sometimes during February there are two Masses because of Ash Wednesday and Catholic Schools Week.

Twice a year the staff and students all come to St. Charles Garnier Parish for penitential services with all of the priests in the area available for confessions. This takes place in Advent and Lent.

As chaplain I also have been involved in the Mexico Mission event. We have Mass each day before beginning work on the houses, and have a blessing service at the end prior to our return home. The spiritual component of this event is very significant.
